We're Just Here to Do the Super Bowl Shuffle [Jan. 23rd, 2007|09:36 pm]
SHOCKED that my Bears made it to the Super Bowl. Things are pretty crazy in the city these days. For me, it's exciting... nowhere near as exciting as the Sox going to the World Series (ahem, I mean WINNING the World Series).

Spain was great. I'm home now. Tired and jetlagged, but I had a great trip and was pleased that my Spanish came back as much as it did. We also went to Morocco for the day where I bought a couple of really stunning rugs and rode a camel. I had fun in Morocco, but it may be a little too exotic for me.

And the White Sox are doing well. Summer is here. Flowers will be planted today. I'm glad to not have to go back to work for another couple of days.

Just watched the Grey's finale, which was awesome. Amazing Race is next up on Tivo'd shows from the last 2 weeks.

That's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh) [Apr. 22nd, 2006|12:49 am]
- With 10% of the season done, the White Sox are 11-5, and tops among the AL Central Division by a game and a half over Cleveland and Detroit.
- They are 9 - 1 in their last 10 games.
- Podsednik's finally starting to turn things around offensively. Which is even more encouraging, since he's the offensive sparkplug, really. (And CUTE)
- Jim Thome has scored a run in every one of the Sox's 16 games. That's a record to start a season. Good trade for Rowand (who I wish we also still had. Brian Anderson will be fine, but he's not great yet.)
- My friend Catherine and I have already been to two games (opening night and last Monday's 9-0 win over KC, where Contreras, Politte and Jenks combined for a one-hitter. AWESOME game.)

Let's go, go-go White Sox.

What? [Nov. 23rd, 2005|07:40 am]
Sarah Silverman plays Alexi Darling??? That's really funny to me, for some reason. (I just learned this fact reading a bit further on in this LAT review.)

Rent [Nov. 23rd, 2005|07:39 am]
The LA Times says one of the things that Rentheads have said for years!

"How is anyone supposed to get behind a blocked songwriter who spends an entire year agonizing over a song that turns out to be a bunch of moldy clichés set to power chords?"

Heh.

The review in the LAT is not good. Most reviews I've read say the movie is fine... better if you already appreciate the source material. We'll see. I'll see it today at 4... if we get out of work at 3, that is. I had an opportunity to go to a midnight screening of it, but, for the first time ever, I actually did something responsible where Rent is concerned and took a pass on it when I knew I'd see it just 16 hours later.

I wonder what I'll think.

Ok - Pods was cute, but I'm sure there was not one person outside of Chicago (or who've never lived in Chicago) that would actually understand that bit on SNL. Still - I found it amusing. Can't believe it took me almost an hour to get to him though.

SNL Questions [Oct. 29th, 2005|10:52 pm]
- Why are they doing a bit on the Indigo Girls? They haven't been popular in like 15 years. I like them, but they're not exactly current.
- Could Lance Armstrong be more wooden? And could he be more obviously reading cue cards?
- Darrell Hammond is STILL on SNL?
- Where or where is Scott Podsednik?
